Goldberg Jones is thrilled to welcome the newest addition to our Portland team: Donato B. Masaoy III.
An experienced, versatile attorney, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm and will be a valuable resource for husbands and fathers facing divorce issues and custody battles in Multnomah County and the surrounding areas.
With two decades of legal experience under his belt, Donato has worked across a wide array of disciplines. In addition to family courts, over the course of his career he has fought for the rights of his clients in criminal defense, worked in consumer law, handled probate proceedings, and even intervened in disputes between tenants and landlords.
No stranger to the courtroom, Donato is equally capable and competent wherever a particular case takes him. He approaches every situation in a composed, professional manner, and uses whatever tools necessary to shoot for an optimal result for his clients.
Whether he needs to be fierce and aggressive at trial, or understated and compassionate helping people through difficult times in their lives, Don is flexible, adaptable, and accommodating. He designs all of his tactics and strategies with precision and with his clients’ goals and well-being at the forefront of his mind.
Talking about Masaoy, managing attorney Colin Amos says, “With his wide-ranging background, Don has seen it all and has the experience to back it up. Clients know immediately that they’re in good hands, and he’s an enormous asset to husbands and fathers facing divorce and custody issues.”
In addition to his extensive legal background, there’s also Don’s second career to consider. Even before he embarked on his journey into the law, he served his country and community. Since 1987, he has proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve, rising to the rank of captain. He is the Executive Officer for Coastal Riverine Squadron EIGHT. A hardware equipped reserve unit, they provide anti-terrorism and force protection across the globe.
A veteran of the Persian Gulf War in the early 1990s, he also served in Kuwait from 2003 to 2004. During his time there, he planned and implemented the mobilization of more than 300 Navy and Coast Guard reservists providing seaward protection and support for coalition shipping efforts in the region.
When he’s not busy fighting for the rights of his clients, Donato enjoys spending time with his family and indulging his passion for music and musical electronics. In his down time, it’s not unusual to find him refurbishing and tinkering with vintage synthesizers, modifying electronics, and taking various instruments out for a musical spin.
Donato graduated from Seattle University with his bachelor’s degree. He followed this accomplishment by attending law school at the Willamette University College of Law in Salem, where he subsequently earned his Juris Doctor.
A competitive, dedicated litigator, Donato Masaoy is a strong advocate for his clients and is a valuable addition to the Goldberg Jones family. Moving forward to the next phase of his career, he will continue to use his skills to benefit and represent husbands and fathers in Portland and the surrounding areas of Oregon.
